From the President

April, 2007

Hello to everyone and welcome back.

April already…April snow brings May flowers?

As customary Bernie’s dinner/show at the Hilltop was a prize-winning  presentation with Karen Granger, internationally known to be the best female tribute artist in the business…

Karen amusingly entertained the audience with her class “A” tribute show.

She and Dolly had a little “falling out” you could say… when Karen was preparing to become Dolly and just before placing Dolly’s wig, on her head, one of Dolly’s redeeming features fell out of her sweater! This brought on plenty of laughter and Karen, being the entertainer she is, carried it even further with her humour. We had another familiar guest by the name of Edith; you guessed it Edith Bunker who sang her little heart out. There was plenty more tributes that Karen presented that I know you would enjoy, try to attend one of her shows and meet the rest… as the saying goes, it’s worth the drive to Acton

After Karen had finished her tributes she sang Over the Rainbow, a cappella, what a voice that lady has been blessed with. Karen’s entire show is her singing and then to sing once again, showing no sign of fatigue in her voice demonstrates the powerful voice this lady has.

This plus her tributes brought the crowd to their feet, yes, another standing ovation, which is customary for Bernie’s shows at the Hilltop…excellent entertainment!

This month had Bernie/The Big O, once again, up and into the air flying to a different destination, this time to Montana and Wyoming

On April 10that the Cam - Plex Heritage Center in Gillette, WY.this was his first appearance. Next the Mother Lode Theatre in Butte , MT. on the 11th

Then the Civic Centre in Helena MT. for two days the 12th and 13th.

All of the above venues were sold out with terrific revues. Bernie stated that all shows had very enthusiastic crowds. Every venue included standing ovations and also as we walked to the front of the theatre everyone cheered. These shows are very popular in the US and the crowds certainly want you to know that.

I would think that the Legend Entertainers would be very delighted to have this kind of acclamation from U.S. fans whichever side of the boarder. We the audience, showing our appreciation to them for keeping our “good ole’ times of rock”n”roll alive.

After the last performance and a few hours sleep Bernie was up and preparing for an early morning flight from Montana to Toronto . He then drove to Conestogo ON , which is approximately 5 minutes from Waterloo , to the Blackforest Inn where he met up with Lori and Jeff Scott. The three of them performed their legends shows of The Roy Orbison Story and the, other, ever popular Everlys on Saturday night the 14th.

Bernie had Roy dressed, guitar in hand, glasses in place and took his audience to that other time and place and was on the stage by 8:00…not just as one legend during the show but two! You know the Everlys, well Bernie, he’s Phil, you know the older one!  How do Legend entertainers do that?? Their quick personality changes I would have to say is called talent.

We are now in Ottawa , it’s the 21st of April, at the Centerpoint Theatre where Bernie performed HIS legend show; I’m speaking of Roy , of course!

On Saturday afternoon, April 28th at Wingham , ON , Buddy, Roy, & Elvis all were performing a track show at this time, Elvis legend was performed, this time, by Will Ganzon. With this performance completed, Bernie was on the road again and back to the Hilltop for the dinner show he was presenting. Cher , Celine & Reba with Karen Grainger
