| ABBA
Gold - The Definitive ABBA Experience is a completely
live (no pre-recorded instrumentation or vocals)
re-creation of a live ABBA concert in the late 70's/early 80's.
Each player is
hand-picked for performance and personality (on and off stage). The
costumes are replicas of the most popular ABBA outfits (comparative photos
available upon request).
ABBA details from
around the world have been collected for authenticity. For example,
Glen (Bjorn) found and acquired the same make and model of Bjorn's
favorite white guitar in Australia. Anni-Frid (Frida) fancied
herself as a dancer as well as a singer. Dawn Ann (our Frida) is a
choreographer as well as a vocalist and live-wire on stage - just like
Frida.
A 4 piece band and 2
back-up singers join the front four characters to perform the music as you
see in ABBA's live concert video footage.
The stage back-drop is
an replica of one of ABBA's most famous North American concerts. The
show also reveals tidbits of ABBA trivia and history.
Admittedly, the
choreography is enhanced due to the expectations of today's
audiences...something ABBA would likely have naturally added to suit the
times. As well as performing all the ABBA hits, and the more obscure songs
upon request, ABBA Gold's high energy show has the audience participating
throughout the performance - singing, clapping, swaying, dancing in the
aisles, and reminiscing about the days when they sang their favorite ABBA
songs for the first time.
A great all-ages,
family experience.
Within the ABBA Gold family are 6 other shows that can be utilized as
opening acts or combined to suit the event. As with ABBA Gold, the same
detail has gone into preparing the best possible shows. All of them
completely live.
These shows include
tributes to:
Elton John, Cyndi Lauper, Tom
Petty, Madonna, 80's, Shear Energy

Jo-Anne Rooney -
Agnetha
Jo-Anne has performing in
the entertainment industry since age 2, with her first regular television
appearance at age 6. A second generation musician, she learned
guitar and was writing songs for her original band at age 10, opening for
touring acts such as Tommy Cash (of the Johnny Cash family) in N.B.
Through the years she's been a featured songwriter on CBC radio, and
played across Canada ranging in format from a single acoustic act to the
lead singer in an 11 piece blues band. In the tribute world she has
traveled the world and been featured on national television documentaries
and series. Jo-Anne has been on stage with numerous recording
artists such as Jeff Healey, 5440, Destiny's Child, Cameo Blues Band
etc. If she's not singing, acting, designing show costumes or
instrument cases, Jo-Anne's working a relief shift as a behavior therapist
for an Acquired Brain Injury residence.
Glen Booth - Bjorn,
Lead Guitar
As a graduate of the Applied Music program at Mohawk College in Hamilton
ON, Glen has been a familiar face on the Southern ON Music scene since the
late 80's. Over the past 13 years, he has taught music and provided
guitar and vocals for several "Top 40" bands in addition to his
original group " Leading Edge". His various projects have
shared billing with such Canadian recording artists as Jeff Healey, Kim
Mitchell, Tom Wilson, Honeymoon Suite and Sass Jordan. Glen has also
been a long standing member of " Practically Hip" the #1 Tribute
to Canada's favorite sons "The Tragically Hip". He brings
to the Bjorn character a long background of both formal and live stage
experience.
Jeff "Scott"
Artamonov - Benny, Piano
A native of Toronto, Jeff started playing piano at age 7, studying at the
Royal Conservatory of Music for 11 years. His professional career
began in the late 1980’s, quickly gaining regular work in local clubs
and piano bars. During this time, Jeff also managed to complete a
Bachelor of Arts degree from York University. Since 1995 he has
toured North America extensively with the band “Bennie and the Jets”
– a tribute to Elton John – a band he founded and plays the lead
character in. Along with his strong vocal and piano skills on stage,
Jeff is also an accomplished songwriter, penning several songs for himself
and others in his custom designed digital recording studio at his home.
Dawn Ann Steane -
Frida
Dawn Ann is a choreographer and heads up the dancing portion of the show.
She's a high energy, lovable person and her quick wit makes the in-between
improv. hilarious.
